This
breed was first introduced in Italy by Duca degli Abruzzi.
Amongst the dogs imported from the North Pole, we find Houdin, a completely
white male, very typical, with a good size and a fine coat, then exported
to Great Britain.
In Italy there were only a few examples of the breed and they were
very heterogeneous, so for this reason breeders had to |

import
from abroad, for example from France where there existed an important
breeding base.
These dogs were detained in Valle D’Aosta and Piemonte to ensure
they were in good health.
Another man who has contributed towards increasing this breed was
the Marquis Alfonso Sanges D’Abadie who bred from French Samoyeds
in Capri. |

In
1950 we find the first dogs in Naples and, in the same period, in
Florence.
The Countess Caterina Passarin d’Antreves possessed a great
international champion, Kristar of Kobe, imported from England.
The first of the breed, called “dell’Aurora Borealis”,
by Mrs. Lupi from Rome, was born in 1960. |

In
1971 another breeding called “di casa Presenzano” rose
in Naples; Mrs Isabella del Balzo di Presenzano imported some completely
white dogs from Great Britain.
In Milan we find the “di Castelverde” by Mr. Fantoni Mario
with American dogs.
In the ‘70s, with a great dog-loving insight, Mr. Sergio Eccheli
of “Clan’s” imported from England some great champions,
then milestones of Italian breeding: three males, Sworddale Silver

and
the female Silver Tanzara of Sworddale, who became famous in the exhibition
circuit.
This last, coupled with the champions mentioned, gave birth to a series
of champions: Clan’s Sergjey, Clan’s Silversky, Clan’s
Noboralfio, Clan’s Elis, Clan’s Noborastro.
In the same period, Antonio and Palma l’Astorina, back from
USA, took with them a female, Nort Starr Dushka, and opened up a breeding
called “Battimonda”. |
